Project Information

Project: The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate sanitary manholes. The program address defects that are related to corrosive hydrogen sulfide gases (H2S), inflow and infiltration (groundwater and/or storm water that flows into a dedicated sanitary sewer) or miscellaneous factors that affect the function of the structure.

Project Limits:  Various locations throughout the Village. (See map below)

Newsletters & Notices: One notice will be mailed to residents/businesses. The notification will inform residents/businesses that a structure in the vicinity of their property is part of the project and will be repaired sometime over the next ninety days.

General Notice 6-18-19

Why is this project necessary?
Just like any other asset structures deteriorate over their service life and need to be periodically maintained. By lining manholes, corrosion is significantly reduced and the service life of the structure is extended. Grouting the structure serves to eliminate inflow and infiltration (I & I).  I & I increases waste water treatment cost because all of the water entering a water treatment facility must be treated. Therefore, as additional wastewater is treated and operational costs increase.

How does this benefit the Village?
By rehabilitating the structure, two benefits are incurred.
  • I & I are reduced and in turn treatment costs are reduced.
  • Installing an epoxy lining system weathers the corrosive environment within a structure and therefore extends the service life of the manhole.
Will there be detours?
There may be a short-term lane reduction.  Primarily, the contractor will park equipment along the side of the roadway.  In Village parking lots a couple of spots may be utilized by the contractor during working hours.
