Lombard Historical Society Celebrates Valentines Day
Saturday, February 8, 2020
The Lombard Historical Society celebrates Valentine’s Day by acknowledging 104 Year Old WWII Veteran on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:30 am. at the Sheldon Peck Homestead, 355 E. Parkside, with Naturalist, Kim White. She will help visitors create Valentines in honor of Maj. Bill White, a WWII US Marine Corp veteran. Admission is free; no registration required.
In the spirit of the Victorian tradition of making Valentine’s Day cards by hand, Visitors to the Peck Homestead will create a Valentine’s Day card to send to Maj. Bill White, a WWII US Marine Corp veteran who enjoys scrapbooking where he keeps his large collection of memories. He plans to celebrate Valentine’s Day by adding Valentines to his scrapbook collection, an activity that keeps him busy. White spent 30 years on active duty and earned a Purple Heart in 1945 for surviving the Battle of Iowa Jima, where he was injured by a hand grenade.
The Sheldon Peck Homestead is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 – 4 pm and Saturdays from 10 -2 pm starting February 1, 2020. The Peck Homestead will be open for Presidents Day, February 17, from 1-4 pm. For more information, please visit lombardhistory.org, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone (630) 629-1885.
