The Village of Lombard is seeking parties interested in pursuing a redevelopment opportunity for a currently owned Village property in Downtown Lombard.

Located at 101-109 South Main Street, the property is 2.19 acres in area and is a part of the Village’s Central Business District. The site has excellent frontage along Main Street and is centrally located with proximity to other retail commercial businesses, offices, and the Lombard Metra station.

The RFP process is intended to seek a qualified redevelopment group to acquire and redevelop the site. The Village’s goal is to select the “best deal” for a project that best enhances the downtown.

Village President Keith Giagnorio and the Village Board are committed to redeveloping the site. “We issued a RFP in June of 2017, seeking exclusively a grocery store development, but we did not receive any responses,” said Giagnorio. “This new RFP is not specific to any one kind of development so responses will help us further gauge the interest in the real estate. We will review any submitted responses and select the best and most qualified project that meets the goals of the RFP.”

Lombard District 4 Trustee and Economic and Community Development Committee Chairperson Bill Johnston, is also interested in hearing from potential developers. “Our downtown is ripe for additional growth in this prime location by the Metra train line. This effort will hopefully facilitate future engagement with a developer that can build upon our downtown business efforts.”
