Provisions set forth in Title XV; Village of Lombard Code of Ordinances 

§150.104- (A)       There is hereby established a Bureau of Fire Prevention designated as a Division of the Fire Department and operated under the direction and supervision of the Fire Chief or his designee.
                   (D)      A change of occupancy or use of any commercial structure or space shall require a Certificate of Compliance from the Bureau of Fire Prevention before any occupancy whatsoever shall be permitted whether whole or in part.

§150.105- (A)       There is hereby adopted by the village a certain code known as "The International Fire Code”, 2009 Edition, including Appendix Chapters D, E, F, H, and I, as published by the International Code Council for the purpose of regulating and governing the safeguarding of life and property from fires and explosion hazards arising from the storage, handling, and use of hazardous substances, materials, and devices, and from conditions hazardous to life or property in the occupancy of buildings and premises. 

The International Fire Code adopted by the Village of Lombard and enforced by the Lombard Fire Department's Bureau of Fire Prevention for the purpose of prescribing regulations to minimize danger to life and property from the fires and explosions arising from storage, handling, and use of hazardous substances, materials, devices and from hazardous conditions in the use or occupancy of buildings and premises.

§ 307.5 International Fire Code

Charcoal burners and other open flame cooking devices shall not be operated on combustible balconies or within 10 feet of combustible construction.

LP-Gas Cooking Devices

LP-gas burners having a LP-gas container with a capacity greater then 1 pound shall not be located on combustible balconies or within 10 feet of combustible construction.

The cooking device restrictions as listed above apply to multi-family structures only.
