Lombard Municipal Electric Aggregation Program
“The Village has selected FirstEnergy Solutions as our provider. Any contact for electric aggregation from anyone else is not affiliated with the Village.”—Village President William Mueller

The Village of Lombard is implementing a new program offering significant savings on residents’ electric rates

Following the passage of a voter referendum on March 20, 2012, the Village of Lombard contracted with FirstEnergy Solutions Corp to procure lower-cost electric supply.

All residents and small commercial accounts will automatically be enrolled unless they have already switched their ComEd electric account to an alternate supplier or are in a Residential Real-Time Pricing (RRTP) program. There is no enrollment fee.

If you have already switched your electric account from ComEd to an alternate supplier, or you are on ComEd’s RRTP program, you will not automatically be enrolled in Lombard’s electric aggregation program, but you may contact FirstEnergy and ask to enroll after the program begins. For those residents currently with another supplier, you should first confirm with your existing supplier that your switch would not trigger an early termination fee with that supplier. There is no fee to join the aggregation.

The rate for Lombard’s new electric aggregation program is 4.64 ¢ per kWh, a savings of 45 percent below the new ComEd rate of 8.5 cents per kWh. Residents consuming an average electric load for single family homes in Lombard may save over $350 in the first year upon joining the program. The Village of Lombard’s contract is for a term of two years.

Residents receiving electricity from an alternate supplier are advised to review their contract to determine whether they are subject to an early termination fee before enrolling in the Village’s program. They can choose to enroll when the program begins, or they may choose to wait until their current contract expires and join the Village’s program at that time by contacting FirstEnergy directly. Do not call the Village Hall to enroll.

Residents will continue to receive only one bill from ComEd and it will include the electric supply charges from FirstEnergy Services, L.L.C. ComEd will continue to charge for delivering electricity. But the cost of the supply portion of your ComEd bill will drop significantly. This is a result of Illinois’ deregulated energy market and new technologies that have lowered the cost of producing electricity.

The Illinois Commerce Commission offers more information about energy deregulation in Illinois and energy supply choices at www.pluginillinois.org.

For questions about your specific electric account, do not call Village Hall; call the new Lombard aggregation program supplier: FirstEnergy Solutions, L.L.C. at 866-636-3749.

If you require additional assistance, call NIMEC at 800-856-3404 to leave your question and callback number. You will be contacted within 24 hours regarding the issue.

To report an electrical outage, or for questions pertaining to your ComEd bill, call ComEd at 800-334-7661.

[1] The Purchased Electricity Adjustment (PEA) is variable and is currently 0.5 cents per kilowatt-hour. There is no PEA charge from your new supplier.

[2] The ComEd rate to compare of 8.00 ¢/kWh is an extrapolation of the four-month summer rate (7.034 ¢/kWh) and the eight-month winter rate (8.542¢/kWh).
