Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  • Conserve water by participating in the Village's Rain Barrel Grant program
  • Donate or recycle electronics.
  • Donate old bicycles to Working Bikes Cooperative a not-for-profit organization which diverts bicycles from the waste stream by repairing some of the bikes for local donation & sale to help fund the overseas shipment & donation of all the remaining bicycles.
  • Recycle plastics numbered 1 - 6 in your curbside recycling.
  • Recycle metal cans and jars in your curbside recycling.
  • Recycle paper and cardboard in your curbside recycling.
  • Recycle cell phones and inkjet cartridges at Village Hall.
  • Compost your yard and food waste, purchase a compost bin and participate in the Village's Compost Bin Grant program.  
  • Report illegal dumping to the Police Department by calling 911.
  • Bring your electronics, scrap metal and books to Lombard's annual Recycling Extravaganza held in September.
  • Bring your used CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs) to Schroeder's Ace Hardware in Eastgate Shopping Center at 837 S. Westmore (They do not accept the long tubes).
  • Bring your household hazardous waste to the Regional Facility in Naperville. Find out more information.  
  • Dry cell batteries (AAA, AA, C, D, 9v & 6v, including rechargeables) may be recycled for a fee through Waste Management.
