Hotel/Motel Tax

The Hotel/Motel Tax is a 5% tax that is levied upon all persons engaged in the business of renting, leasing or letting rooms in a hotel in Lombard.  

Hotel/Motel Tax Return Form Information:

• Hotels/Motels are required to remit a Hotel/Motel Tax Return form to the Village on a monthly basis. 
• For your convenience, please save the Hotel/Motel Tax Return Form Excel file on your computer.  You may then enter the receipt amounts in the highlighted fields and the spreadsheet will calculate the return amount.

  • Note per 35 ILCS 145/: A "Permanent Resident" is exempt from paying the Hotel/Motel Tax. "Permanent resident" means any person who occupied or has the right to occupy any room or rooms, regardless of whether or not it is the same room or rooms, in a hotel for at least 30 consecutive days.
