Earth Hour, Proclaimed at the March 21, 2013 Lombard Board of Trustees meeting.
WHEREAS, the Village of Lombard recognizes that local governments play a leading role in environmental policy and awareness; and
WHEREAS, last year over 7,000 communities in 152 countries participated in Earth Hour, a one-hour period on March 23rd when lights are to be turned off to conserve electricity to reduce power plant emissions and, thus, greenhouse gas emissions; and
WHEREAS, the Village’s Environmental Concerns Committee discusses environmental policy issues and recommends that the Village of Lombard enthusiastically continue to participate in Earth Hour; and
WHEREAS, the Earth Hour program is described in detail at earthhour.org;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, William Ware, Acting Village President of the Village of Lombard, do hereby proclaim March 23, 2013 Earth Hour Day in the Village of Lombard and urge all residents to again participate in Earth Hour from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, March 23rd, and to discuss the importance of energy conservation with their families.
