Lombard Pride Cleanup

Lombard Pride Cleanup of Trails and Parks!  (April 28-30, 2023)

Residents and businesses pitch in each April around Earth Day and before Lilac Time to remove trash and invasive species from the two regional bike trails and many parks in Lombard. Individuals, families and groups interested in volunteering may sign up for a trail section or park. A Village staff member will respond by email to confirm. Signing up is encouraged to prevent redundant or missed areas. Once a sufficient quantity of volunteers have signed up for a certain trail segment or park, it will be shown as unavailable on the table below. Click here to see a map of Trails and Parks.

Volunteers may work on any date and time of their choosing. Bags and large items may be left at the nearest street crossing of the trail or next to a trash can in the park. Please use your own protective equipment including gloves, grabbers, and insect repellent. Long pants, long sleeves, safety glasses, and solid-toed shoes are recommended to protect against thorns and poison ivy. Trash bags and safety vests are available if needed during business hours at Lombard Public Works, 1051 S Hammerschmidt Ave. 

Afterwards, sending group photos to publicworks@villageoflombard.org is encouraged for posting on the Village’s social media to recognize volunteers and discourage future littering. The Village is able to provide written recognition of service hours upon request.

The Illinois Prairie Path and Great Western Trail are owned by the DuPage County Department of Transportation, and most parks belong to the Lombard Park District. Therefore, any significant maintenance concerns should be addressed to them at TrailPathCoordinator@dupageco.org and info@lombardparks.com.
