Project Information

The purpose of the TIF (Tax Increment Financing) District Lighting Improvements project is to improve the reliability of the Central Business District (CBD) street lighting system. The scope of work is primarily comprised of the removal and replacement of street lighting cabling within a portion of the TIF District of the CBD. The limits of the project are listed below:

• Main Street (St. Charles Road to Grove Street)
• Park Avenue (St. Charles Road to Michael McGuire Drive)
• St. Charles Road (Elizabeth Street to Garfield Street)

The scope also includes rodding and cleaning the existing conduit and minor enhancements/modifications to the three lighting controllers listed below:

• East St. Charles Road (Fire Station #1)
• Park & Michael McGuire Drive
• Lincoln Avenue (Splash Park)


Why is this project necessary?
The street lighting cabling and three lighting controllers are in need of repair. There has also been increased demand on the electrical system as more special events are being held downtown.

How does this benefit the Village?
The purpose of the project is to improve the reliability of the lighting system and to serve as the first step in helping to meet the increased demand for power needed during special downtown events.

Will there be detours?
There will be short term lane reductions and some parking spots may be utilized by the contractor during working hours.
