The Lombard Cycling Classic, as part of the Intelligentsia Cup Series, is a one-day, all-day, event expected to welcome upwards of 1,000 amateur and professional cyclists, and their guests, from around the world to Downtown Lombard on Tuesday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Join in on the fun! Families, bring your kids out to see the fastest bicyclists in the country and participate in the Kids & Family Fun Ride taking place at 6:15 PM. Pre-register at www.discoverdupage.com/LombardCyclingClassic.com and be entered to win a family day pass to Brookfield Zoo!
Participants are required to bring their own bicycles, wear helmets and meet at the registration tent no later 5:30 p.m. to check-in and sign waivers.
The racecourse is located in the downtown area, the course will utilize Main St, St. Charles Road, Elizabeth St., and Michael McGuire Dr. to complete a rectangular course. On Tuesday, July 26th, no vehicle access will be allowed on, off, or through the course, beginning at 6:00 a.m. until approximately 9:00 p.m., after public safety officials have approved the reopening of the roads. Commuters are reminded to plan ahead for traffic delays. The last race ends at 8:15 p.m., and road closures will be in place until the race route has been cleared by public safety personnel.
- St. Charles Road will be CLOSED from Elizabeth through Main Street, including the intersection of Main Street and St. Charles Road
- The underpass at Main Street and the track crossing at Elizabeth Street will be CLOSED. Vehicles must use the crossings at either Crescent Boulevard or Grace Street to cross the railroad tracks
- East and westbound St. Charles Road traffic will be detoured north to Grove Street
- North and southbound Main Street traffic will be detoured east to Grace Street
Visitors may find parking in the Parkside Metra Commuter Lot, south of the train tracks, and on-street parking in the surrounding area. The Hammerschmidt Lot is the designated location for bicyclists and volunteers.
