Village of Lombard Seeks Proposals from Local Non-Profits for a Future Summer Community Event

The Village of Lombard, through the Lombard Pride Committee, has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP), seeking a qualified not-for-profit group to plan and operate a future Village-wide summer community event or festival.

In issuing the RFP, the Village hopes to identify and enter into a contract with one or more qualified not-for-profit entities to provide event and festival services on a multi-year basis.

The Lombard Pride Committee was formed in May to help advise the Village Board of Trustees on matters concerning local special events and to evaluate the potential for future events and festivals within the community. Prior to issuing the RFP, the Lombard Pride Committee completed a survey of other area local special events and festivals and issued a community group interest survey gauging the local interest of community non-profits in hosting or collaborating to organize a future summer special event or festival.

The Committee recommendation has focused on the identification of a two to three day weekend community event or festival that would include, but not be limited to, a family fun, art and wine, cultural or other type of event or celebration featuring food, local vendors and live music. The Village does not have any pre-determined mandates with regards to a future special event. As such, the Pride Committee and RFP seek new and creative ideas for future events that are not tied to any past historic events or locations.

The Lombard Pride Committee is hoping to attract a qualified not-for-profit group with a solid financial standing and proven track record of serving the community with prior event or festival planning experience. Groups without sufficient experience may be considered if they partner with a professional event planning company and/or another group with appropriate experience.

Not-for-profit groups should submit their event proposals by the RFP deadline of September 30, 2015. The Village will host a meeting mid-September to review the RFP and answer any questions groups might have in completing their proposal. The special event RFP can be found on the Village of Lombard website at For more information on the Lombard Pride Committee or the Request for Proposal, please contact Assistant Village Manager Nicole Aranas at 630-620-3085.
