September is National Preparedness Month and the Village of Lombard is encouraging residents to create a plan with your family, in case of emergency. Don’t Wait. Communicate. Make your plan today.
It is important to plan ahead to help keep your family safe and calm if a disaster strikes. Families can create an emergency contact list including work and personal phone numbers that children may use in emergencies, and contacts to your family’s medical professionals. Part of your plan should also include a neighborhood meeting place and a regional meeting place in case family members get lost or separated.
Emergency kits should be prepared ahead of time and should include important items including batteries, bottled water, prescription medicines, phone charger and a back-up battery and any necessary medical equipment. Be sure to be prepared before an emergency happens. For additional preparation plans and suggested emergency kit items, please visit www.ready.gov to learn how to help keep you and your family safe in times of emergency, disaster or crisis.
In times of emergency, the Village of Lombard will notify residents of informative updates on our website at www.VillageofLombard.org, on our Facebook page, our Twitter page, and through our Code Red system. Sign up for our Code Red Alerts, which will be used to contact residents via email, text, and phone call in emergency situations at www.VillageofLombard.org/EmergencyContact. Please contact Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Howell at 630-620-5761 for more information.
