Illinois has declared February 28 – March 5 as Severe Weather Preparedness Week. In honor of this state wide event, Lombard is encouraging residents to sign up for Village emergency alerts.
Severe weather can happen anywhere, at any time, creating potentially life threatening situations. To stay informed during these unforeseen emergency events, Lombard residents are urged to sign up and encourage friends and family to sign up for emergency alerts. To sign up visit VillageofLombard.org/notifyme and enter your information and select email, text, or both options, in which to receive alerts.
During extreme weather emergencies, the Village of Lombard will send out a variety of alerts including text messages and emails to those who have signed up for this service. Messages will contain potentially lifesaving information. Text messages and email alerts are especially useful for residents who are on the go, and are not likely to be home to receive a phone call from emergency telephone systems. The Village will also use social media outlets including Facebook and Twitter to distribute information in times of emergency. “Like” the Village on Facebook at and follow @lilacvillage on Twitter for current updates.
“Severe weather can happen anywhere and anytime. The important thing is that we take the time to prepare ahead of time,” said Lombard Fire Chief Paul DiRienzo. “We want to make sure our residents are connected with us, just in case. If there is a weather emergency here in Lombard, we will use these tools to communicate to our residents. I highly encourage all residents to sign up for our emergency alert emails and connect with the Village on social media.”
