In response to Illinois' Severe Weather Preparedness week March 5 - 11, Lombard is encouraging residents to sign up for the Village’s e-news and connect on social media, to receive alerts and important information in times of extreme weather.
Severe weather can happen anywhere, at any time, creating potentially life threatening situations. To stay informed during these unforeseen emergency events, Lombard residents are urged to sign up and encourage friends and family to sign up for emergency alerts. To sign up visit VillageofLombard.org/enews and enter your information and select email, text, or both options, in which to receive alerts.
During extreme weather emergencies, the Village of Lombard will send out a variety of alerts including text messages and emails to those who have signed up for this service. Messages will contain potentially lifesaving information. Text messages and email alerts are especially useful for residents who are on the go, and are not likely to be home to receive a phone call from emergency telephone systems. The Village will also use social media outlets including Facebook and Twitter to distribute information in times of emergency. “Like” the Village at www.facebook.com/villageoflombard and follow @lilacvillage at www.twitter.com/lilacvillage for current updates.
“We can’t control when severe weather impacts our community. The important thing is that we take the time to prepare ahead of time,” said Lombard Fire Chief Rick Sander. “In the event of an extreme weather event, we will use the resources available, including our website and social media, to communicate important information. I encourage all residents to take a moment and connect with us.”
