The Village of Lombard and surrounding areas could experience an increase of air traffic noise during the overnight hours of July 2 – July 8, 2017, as part of O’Hare’s second test of the proposed Fly Quiet Runway Rotation
The 12 week long test program will test different configurations, intended to balance the overnight noise of both incoming and outgoing O’Hare flights. The week of July 2, 2017 has the highest potential to produce an increased amount of overnight noise that could impact Lombard. The program was originally tested for 6 months in 2016. The upcoming tests are intended to improve runway rotation plans based off of feedback of the 2016 test program.
Residents wishing to voice their concerns or feedback in the rotational program are invited to participate in the Fly Quiet program survey at airportprojects.net/flyquiettest/survey. Concerns regarding airplane noise should be directed to the Chicago Department of Aviation through the O’Hare Noise Hotline at 1-800-453-9569.
