In support of Illinois Speed Awareness Day, the Lombard Police Department cracked down on vehicular speeding at several locations throughout the Village.
The results of the enforcement campaign included 114 traffic stops for speeding violations, which resulted in 41 warnings and 73 citations, including 2 aggravated speeding tickets due to excessive speed. Three hours of the enforcement campaign were spent doing enforcement on Westmore-Meyers Rd., between Roosevelt Rd. & St. Charles Rd.
“Public safety is our top priority. Lombard Police issue citations every day motorists who choose to speed,” said Sgt. Joe Grage. “There’s no need to endanger your life, or the lives of innocent people around you, just to get somewhere a minute or two faster. We encourage Lombard motorists to slow down and follow the speed limit. These limits are there for a reason. It’s to help save lives.”
Lombard participates in several enforcement campaigns throughout the year and will be participating in the upcoming Drive Sober Get Pulled Over Labor Day Campaign. For more information please call Sgt. Grage at (630)873-4400.
