The Village of Lombard will now charge a $50 fee for voluntary water turn on/turn off services performed by the Village. In addition, the Village will no longer turn on/turn off water during non-business hours, except in cases of emergency.
Voluntary Water Shut Off Requests
For a voluntary shut-off requested by a customer, a $50 fee will be added to their next water bill. An example of a voluntary shut-off request is when the property owner cannot turn off their water in order to make a repair, and therefore requests the Village to do so. An additional $50.00 fee will be charged when the owner requests the water to be turned back on. Voluntary water shut-offs and turn-ons shall be scheduled in advance and will only occur between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on days that the Village Hall is open for business.
Delinquent AccountsFor a shut-off due to non-payment, water service shall only be turned back on provided the amount owed and the turn-on fee have been paid during regular Village Hall business hours, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. The turn on fee is $50 if paid between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and increases to $90 after 3:30 p.m. Customers who pay by close of business (4:30 p.m.) will have their service reinstated that same day. Fee Waived for Emergency SituationsEmergency water shut-offs and reconnections are exempt from the voluntary turn on/turn off fees. An example of an emergency water shut is when a property has a severe leak and the water cannot be shut off from the inside. Emergencies can be reported to Public Works at (630)620-5740 during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and 9-1-1 after hours. In emergency situations the Village will shut the water at the curb stop at no cost to the property owner.
