Lombard has partnered with the Cartegraph Data Services to perform a Village-wide pavement condition data collection project. From Sept. 27-Oct. 4, a slow-moving van with the Cartegraph logo will travel on Village streets, to collect road condition data.
The van is fitted with specialized technology that measures the surface condition of the pavement. This information will be used to optimize future pavement maintenance activities performed by the Village.
Using state-of-the-art technology, Cartegraph will assess local pavement conditions by identifying various distresses within the pavement. This data will be entered into the Village’s asset management system to build a comprehensive pavement condition inventory. The data will aid the Public Works Department in refining its comprehensive multi-year paving plan.
“Everyday traffic and weather conditions take a major toll on our roads. Identifying and measuring pavement defects now will help us to reduce our costs in the future,” said Public Works Director Carl Goldsmith. “This partnership with Cartegraph will help us prioritize the Village’s street maintenance in a way that is both equitable and data driven.”For more information, please visit use www.villageoflombard.org/pavementsurvey.
