On Sunday September 24, at approximately 1:42 a.m., the Lombard Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on the 1600 block of S. Highland Avenue. Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire in the attached garage of the single story home.
The fire was quickly extinguished did not spread from the garage. According to Battalion Chief Al Greene, the fire caused moderate fire, smoke, and water damage to the garage and home. No injuries to the occupants of the home or emergency personnel were reported. The damage to the structure and contents is estimated to be $20,000.
Lombard was assisted on the scene by the Elmhurst and Oak Brook Fire Departments as well as the Lisle, Woodridge, Oakbrook Terrace and York Center Fire Protection Districts.
