The Lombard Police Department made 1 DUI arrest, as well as 17 speeding and 4 distract driving tickets, during an enhanced St. Patrick’s Day Weekend enforcement effort. In addition, 21 seat belt citations were written — 6 during the night time hours.
Impaired driving causes tragedies year round. According to the latest data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 10,265 people died in impaired driving crashes on our nation’s roads in 2015.“Lombard maintains a strict zero tolerance policy when it comes to impaired driving. It’s a really bad idea to drink and drive in Lombard, because you will be arrested, “said Lt. Joe Grage. “While we’re happy that we only had 1 DUI arrest, that’s still 1 too many.”
Lombard Police joined forces with law enforcement agencies throughout the state in the St. Patrick’s Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown.
Extra enforcement efforts are funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation and are part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
