Run of the Year Award
The Lombard Fire Department is proud to announce that it has been selected to receive the Dr. Joseph Hartmann Award for the Call of the Year by Good Samaritan Hospital.
This incident involved took place in January 2018, when a 16 year old Lombard resident suffered sudden cardiac arrest. Lombard Police Officers Ryan Postal and Andrew Boccassini arrived first on the scene and applied an AED and started CPR. The Fire Department crews arrived in 3 minutes, after returning from a previous call on the Tollway. The Lombard Firefighter/paramedics that arrived and resuscitated the victim included Mike Fetzer, Matt Orseske, Adam Bonnan, Alex Johnson; Lieutenants Mark Sepe and Joe Kielczynski and Battalion Chief Al Greene. The Run of the Year includes incidents that occurred from May 2017 – May 2018.

“Both awards are humbling, but to receive both a Run of the Month and the very prestigious Run of the Year Awards, makes me immensely proud of department crew members for their excellent service,” said Lt. and EMS Coordinator Frank Gallione. “We don’t do this job for the recognition but for a true desire to help people.”
