The Village of Lombard invites residents to help save lives at its Summer Blood Drive on Wednesday, June 20.
Donors can choose from two blood donation locations, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Yorktown Shopping Center in the Heartland Mobile Coach, parked outside entrance 5 between Von Maur and The Eatery, or at Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave, 1:30 to 7 p.m.
Donors will receive a “huddle up give blood” t-shirt from the Chicago Bears and Heartland Blood Centers, a coupon for a free pint of Culver’s Ice Cream, and be entered into drawings for Yorktown gift cards.
“Every 2 seconds, someone needs blood in the United States, and there’s no artificial substitute for human blood,” said the Village’s Blood Drive Coordinator Carol Bauer. “One donation can help save the lives of up to three people and only takes twelve minutes. The entire process, from the time you arrive to the time you leave takes only 1 hour.”
To book an appointment visit villageoflombard.org/blooddrives. Contact Carol Bauer at (630)620-5712 or firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Blood Donor Story
When Emily Alanis was pregnant with her son Elliot, complications arose due to a rare blood disorder. When Elliot was born via emergency c-section, he required 3 blood transfusions and Emily required 1 transfusion. Emily is Heartland Blood Center’s Recruitment Manager and encourages everyone to donate blood!
