Beginning in the fall of 2018, the Lombard Fire Department will be focusing its In-School Public Education programs on educating kindergarten and third grade students on how to stay safe.
Programs will continue to focus on the importance of fire safety, electrical safety and safety around water, and will serve as a resource in fostering relationships.
“The Fire Department remains committed to providing fire safety training for our community,” said Bureau Chief Perry Johnson. “In the fall, we will be concentrating our efforts toward delivering programs to kindergarten and third grade students. The programs will still provide students with fire safety education for two school years.”
Lombard’s In-School Public Education revised its focus from pre-school students, to kindergarten and third grade students, after approval from the Village’s Public Transportation and Safety Committee at the March 2018 meeting.
The Lombard Fire Department will continue to also host station tours upon request, attend community events including Cruise Nights and the Art and Craft Fair, Touch a Truck with the Lombard Park District, the Annual Fire Prevention week (Oct. 7-13) open house, and additional community events where fire safety is provided.
