At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, the Lombard Police Department responded to a report of man with a weapon on the 100 block of W. Ash Street in Lombard.
Officers arrived at the scene within minutes to investigate the report. The scene was secured and a suspect was taken into custody at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Out of an abundance of caution, St. John’s Lutheran School was temporarily placed on lockdown, due to its close proximity to the report. Parents were notified of the lockdown by message from the school. Police report that the incident was unrelated to the school and the lockdown was placed as a security precaution.
As the situation developed, updates were posted to the Village’s social media pages and shared to the Village website as information became available.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and the suspect’s name has not yet been released. The Lombard Police Department thanks the public for their cooperation.
