[ARCHIVED] Blood Drive at Yorktown: August 19

blood drive 240

Blood donations are in need during the global COVID-19 pandemic. A blood donation event will take place on August 19th at Yorktown Center, 203 Yorktown Shopping Center, 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Schedule your blood donation time online. Blood donation is a lifesaver. Because there is no artificial substitute for human blood, someone needs donated human blood every 2 seconds in the United States, and even one donation can help save the lives of up to three people. Donating blood is a safe process. A sterile needle is used only once for each donor and is then discarded.

Safety Precautions and Social Distancing While Donating Blood

Blood donation is considered an essential activity and is exempt from the Stay-at-Home Mandate that is currently in place for Illinois. Safe social distancing measures will be in place to ensure donor safety. These measures include pre-screening both staff and donors for COVID-19 symptoms, including taking donors’ temperature, complying with social distancing with beds six feet apart and/or separated by a partition, wiping down surface areas and beds after each donation, and providing only packaged snacks and drinks. Versiti staff members are following many new safety measures to ensure donor safety, as well as their own.
