Winter Blood Drive: January 13, 2021

The Village’s Annual Winter Blood Drive will take place on January 13, 2021. The blood drive will take place from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the lower level of Yorktown outside of Von Maur. The blood drive will then move locations to the First Church of Lombard Fellowship Hall, at 220 S. Main Street, from 1:30 - 7 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. Visit www.villageoflombard.org/blooddrives for more information.

Please remember it takes only an hour to be a hero and save a life- donating blood is safe, simple and does save lives.  Be a hero – donate blood.  New to the Blood Drive Program - all blood donations will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.

Versiti will be performing SARS CoV-2 antibody tests on all blood donations as part of standard testing.

If you feel ill, it is advised that you stay home and reschedule your appointment for a later date. Healthy individuals are encouraged to keep their appointments and will undergo the health screening process prior to their donation. For more information on COVID-19 as it relates to blood, visit the American Association of Blood Banks website www.aabb.org. For general information on COVID-19, visit www.cdc.gov.

Safety Precautions and Social Distancing While Donating Blood

Blood donation is considered an essential activity. Safe social distancing measures will be in place to ensure donor safety. These measures include prescreening both staff and donors for COVID-19 symptoms, including taking donors’ temperature, complying with social distancing with beds six feet apart and/or separated by a partition, wiping down surface areas and beds after each donation, and providing only packaged snacks and drinks. Versiti staff members are following many new safety measures to ensure donor safety, as well as their own.
