Waste Management’s yard waste collection program in Lombard runs from the first full week in April through the second full week in December. In addition, trash collection fees will be adjusted by 5 percent, which is the maximum allowed by the Solid Waste Contract since the Consumers Price Index was higher.
Bundled brush, as well as paper bags and cans of leaves and grass, must have a yard waste sticker attached. Bundles must be tied with non-plastic twine or string, cut no longer than six feet, no wider than 18 inches, and less than 50 pounds. Also, no limb may be greater than six inches in diameter.
Waste Management’s yard waste sticker prices will increase by 12 cents (5 percent) to $2.57/sticker. Yard waste and refuse stickers are available at the following locations. Residents are encouraged to call ahead to verify business hours and an available supply of stickers.
- 7-Eleven, 594 S. Main Street, Lombard
- Ace Hardware, 837 S. Westmore-Meyers, Lombard
- Jewel, 1177 S. Main Street, Lombard
- Jewel, 33 E. St. Charles Road, Villa Park
- Johnson’s Lighthouse BP, 1 W. St. Charles Road, Villa Park
To save money and enrich soil, residents may prefer to mulch grass clippings or to compost yard waste in a bin on their property. The Village’s Compost Bin Reimbursement Program is available at villageoflombard.org/yardwaste. There is also an annual curbside collection program available for $131.22.
The 5 percent fees adjustment represents a 74 cent increase for the monthly standard 64-gallon refuse toter to $16.19, and a 7 cents increase for refuse stickers to $1.59. More information is at villageoflombard.org/solidwaste.
