As part of the Village’s 2022 Concrete Rehabilitation Program, Schroeder & Schroeder Inc. will begin diamond grinding (pavement preservation work) on Madison St between Main St and Grace St, beginning Monday, August 29, 2022. Weather permitting, the work is expected to take approximately one week to complete.
During this work, the road will be open to traffic; however, lane closures will be in the immediate work zone. The contractor will have flaggers on-site to assist with traffic control. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and urged to slow down and exercise caution while driving through the work zone.
The work is being performed to improve the rideability of the roadway. Due to the joints in the concrete, the roadway surface is relatively bumpy and creates noise as traffic moves over the joints. The diamond grinding will smooth the surface and minimize road noise. Additionally, the entire section of roadway will also be restriped with new pavement markings to increase the visibility of the crosswalks, stop bars, and bicycle lanes.
