September is National Preparedness Month and this year, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency's theme is "A Lasting Legacy - The life you've built is worth protecting. Prepare for disasters to create a lasting legacy for your and your family."
Emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere without notice. Preparedness is a shared responsibility; it takes a whole community. That's why the Village of Lombard encourages residents to be prepared in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.
Preparing can start with four important steps:
- Be informed about emergencies that could happen in your community, and identify sources of information in your community that will be helpful before, during, and after an emergency
- Make a plan for what to do in an emergency (For sample plans and more tips at https://www.ready.gov.
- Build an emergency supply kit
- Get involved
