On Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at approximately 1:50 a.m., the Lombard Fire Department responded to an activated fire alarm at the 400 block of W. 22nd Street in Lombard. Lombard Fire Department crews arrived on the scene at 1:54 a.m. and, upon investigating the alarm, found a working fire in the building, at which time the alarm was elevated to a structure fire response.
The fire was contained and extinguished in less than 15 minutes, but crews remained on scene for approximately 1 1/2 hours doing ventilation and overhaul work.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Lombard Fire Investigation Unit. The fire caused approximately $25,000 in damage.
The Lombard Fire Department was assisted by the Downers Grove, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, and Villa Park Fire Departments, as well as the York Center Fire Protection District. The Lombard Police Department also assisted at the scene.
