The Lombard Fire Department is excited to announce its partnership with Project Fire Buddies, a program that aims to bring joy and assistance to children battling serious illnesses and their families.

"Partnering with Project Fire Buddies is another great opportunity for us to engage with and support our community," said Lombard Fire Chief Rick Sander. " Our firefighters are excited to get involved and help make a difference in the lives of these wonderful children."

Project Fire Buddies connects firefighters with local families battling the mental, physical and emotional fight of childhood cancer and other critical illnesses. Firefighters visit the children with gifts and spend time with them, providing much-needed support and companionship. In addition to these visits, firefighters offer general assistance around the home, such as changing smoke detector batteries or putting up and taking down holiday lights.

The Lombard Fire Department is seeking local families with children battling serious illnesses who would like to participate in Project Fire Buddies. Families interested in receiving assistance from the program should contact Project Fire Buddies via email contact@projectfirebuddies.org or by phone (708) 533-0417.
