The Village of Lombard is encouraging residents to bring unwanted items for recycling at Lombard’s annual Recycling Extravaganza, Saturday, September 21, 2019, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., at Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave.
The following materials will be accepted:
- non-expired canned foods for the Lombard Villa Park Food Pantry
- tools, hardware and building supplies for Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore
- used clothing in any condition, furniture and working appliances Goodwill Industries
- latex paint (for a cost) by ePaint Industries
- Styrofoam by DART Industries
- car and marine lead-cell batteries by Excide Batteries
- scrap metal by Redline, fire extinguishers and depressurized tanks by PA Crimson
- cell phones and accessories for Family Shelter Services
- eyeglasses, hearing aids and metal keys for the Lombard Lions Club
- bicycles for Working Bikes Cooperative
- musical instruments, sheet music, vinyl records and Brita & Pur water filters for SCARCE
- crutches, non-motorized wheelchairs, canes and gently used shoes (no high heels) for the Lombard Rotary Club
- American flags in any condition for the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Please note that the following materials will not be accepted at this year’s event:
- electronics
- books
- scrap wood
- air conditioners
- household batteries
- carpeting
- dehumidifiers
- drywall
- household hazardous waste
- items with gas or oil
- plaster
- smoke and CO detectors
- VHS tapes
- windows
- vinyl siding
Household hazardous waste is accepted at the regional collection facility at 156 Fort Hill Drive in Naperville, open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
