Winter Reminders

Snow Plowing

Winter of course brings snow plowing. Visit our Snow Plowing page for detailed information about how the Public Works Department performs snow plowing, as well frequently asked questions related to snow plowing.

Residential Street Parking

After 1" of snowfall, residential street parking is not allowed. Residents are encouraged to avoid street parking during any winter weather conditions. Cars parked on streets greatly reduce the speed and efficiency of plowing and salting efforts. Requests for overnight street parking will not be granted during winter weather events.

Frozen Water Pipes

Often times in extreme cold weather, pipes in your house may freeze. See the Frozen Water Pipes page for tips to avoid frozen pipes and what to do if a pipe does freeze.

Garbage/Recycling Collection Update

Waste Management has provided an update that they will remain off the roads Thursday due to continued poor weather. They intend to service the remaining Wednesday zone customers as well as the Thursday zone customers on Friday. The Friday zone customers will be serviced on Saturday, in addition to any customers remaining uncollected from the Wednesday and Thursday zones.

Please leave your uncollected garbage/recycling curbside until Saturday with the expectation that Waste Management will still be coming. Do not place waste containers in the roadway as they obstruct plowing and may topple when hit by plowed snow.

While the Village shares information received from Waste Management, it is recommended that Waste Management customers sign up using their Customer ID (on their Waste Management bill) to receive alerts, including service disruptions notifications, through their account on the Waste Management website.
