Spring Maintenance Reminders to Keep Your Property Up to Village Code


Winter can be hard on your home, so spring is the perfect time to perform maintenance and avoid local violations. While spring cleaning this year, please consider these reminders:

  • All premises shall be maintained free from weeds or grass growth in excess of 8” throughout the growing season. 
  • Sidewalks need to be kept free of all obstructions including branches. Branches must be 7’ or more above the sidewalk. 
  • All surfaces of a home, including but not limited to, doors, door and window frames, porches, trim, decks and fences be maintained in good condition.
  • Downspouts and sump pumps need to be directed away from a neighbor’s property so that it does not cause a public or private nuisance.

Lombard Receives 2021 Water Saver Award and Water Ambassador Gold Award


The Village of Lombard was recently recognized by the Illinois Section American Water Works Association (ISAWWA) with the Water Saver Award for its excellence as an ambassador for professional water works advocacy and for making significant contributions to water efficiency within the water industry. 

This distinction was presented to Brian Jack, Lombard Public Works Utilities Superintendent, at the annual WaterCon event in Springfield. The ISAWWA will also present a certificate of this award at the May 5, 2022 Village Board Meeting.

Help Save a Life, Donate Blood at Lombard’s Spring Blood Drive on April 19


Residents are invited to save lives by donating blood at the Village of Lombard’s Spring Blood Drive on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. The blood drive event will begin at the lower level of Yorktown outside of Von Maur from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and continue at the First Church of Lombard Fellowship Hall, 220 S. Main Street, from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 
 
This blood drive will help to combat the nationwide blood shortage, and all donors will be entered into a drawing for a $500 e-gift card for Airbnb.com.

Community Shredding Event for Residents on April 9


The Village of Lombard and State Representative Terra Costa Howard will host a document shredding event this Saturday, April 9 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Lombard Village Hall (255 E. Wilson Ave).

Residents will have an opportunity to safely destroy documents that contain personal information including credit card statements, medical records, tax returns, and bills. There is a limit of two banker boxes per car.

Don't Miss the 4th Annual Public Works Citizens Academy in April


Have you ever wondered how Lombard's water is treated? Or how our streets are maintained? If the answer is yes, then Lombard's Public Works Citizens Academy is for you! This free program is open to residents ages 18+. Classes will be held on 4 consecutive Monday evenings from 6 - 8:30 p.m., beginning April 18th.

Throughout the program, participants will tour Lombard's Public Works facilities, learn about the various Public Works Divisions, and receive hands-on training and demonstrations.

Space is limited and registrations are due by Wednesday, April 13. To register or learn more, visit www.villageoflombard.org/pwca.

Assistance Program for Illinois 
Homeowners Impacted by COVID-19


Illinois homeowners who have fallen behind on payments due to the pandemic can soon seek support from a new homeowner assistance program provided by the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA). IHDA will offer the Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund (ILHAF) and the program will offer up to $30,000 in assistance to approved applicants.

Applications for the Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund (ILHAF) will be accepted beginning Monday, April 11, 2022. The application portal will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Interested homeowners are also strongly encouraged to view or attend an informational session hosted by IHDA to learn more.
