Village Works with Businesses Regarding Anticipated Phase 3

On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced that the Chicago region, including Lombard, is on track to move from Phase 2 to Phase 3 of the Reopen Illinois Plan, along with certain modifications. This action is pending continued trends of decreased COVID-19 statistics.

On May 24, the State released its Phase 3 industry-specific guidelines. Village staff is working with local businesses to find creative solutions to support reopening, while adhering to the State guidelines. The categories of businesses that will be allowed to reopen in Phase 3, with specific restrictions, include:
  • Health & Fitness Businesses
  • Manufacturing Businesses
  • Offices
  • Personal Care Services (Salons, barbershops, spas)
  • Restaurants and Bars for outdoor service
  • Retail businesses
  • Service Counters
  • Youth Sports

In Phase 3 of the State's Restore Illinois Plan, restaurants and bars will be allowed to reopen for outdoor dining. The Village is taking an all options approach when considering creative plans that help to benefit the most amount of businesses possible. These plans include consideration of expanded outdoor seating areas. Village staff is also developing plans for a shared outdoor eating space, that complies with regulations, in downtown Lombard. More information will be shared as it develops on the Village's COVID-19 website and on social media.
