Phase 4 to Begins June 26: Shop Local Lombard!

Lombard will move from Phase 3 to Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan tomorrow, Friday, June 26. As we continue to move forward as a community, we are excited about new opportunities to visit and shop at Lombard restaurants and businesses, and to get back to some of our favorite pastimes.

Yorktown Center is happy to announce that almost 80% of their stores are open for your shopping needs! Yorktown is also looking forward to the reopening of restaurants in their Eatery and are preparing to implement the required seating restrictions and safety measures. You can also enjoy some summer movies at the AMC Theater at Yorktown, beginning July 15th.

The Lombard community offers numerous opportunities for dining and shopping. Many businesses will continue to offer curbside pick-up and delivery, but indoor dining and outdoor dining at your favorite restaurants may also soon be available! From downtown Lombard to Yorktown Shopping Center, and the shops and restaurants along Butterfield and Roosevelt, residents are reminded to dine and shop local!

It is our hope that residents will recognize the importance of supporting local businesses at this important time. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we said we will get through this together, and this statement rings truer than ever. Whether you are supporting your neighborhood restaurant, purchasing a birthday gift or gift card from a small business, or seeing a movie and shopping at Yorktown Center, we thank you for your support of local businesses.

While we celebrate this next step in restoring our local economy, we do so with a heightened responsibility to the health and safety of our family, friends, neighbors, and essential workers. COVID-19 is an active part of our day-to-day lives and prevention is key. Customers should expect to maintain social distancing and to comply with restrictions in place. Please continue to wear masks in situations when a minimum of 6’ of social distance cannot be maintained and remember to wash your hands with soap and water often.

We will continue to get through this together Lombard Strong!

Fireworks safety month june

Firework Safety Reminders

Fireworks were involved in an estimated 9,100 injuries treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments during calendar year 2018, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The discharging of fireworks, such as firecrackers, bottle rockets and Roman candles, are not allowed in Illinois under state regulations, and is a violation of state law and Village ordinances. Sparklers are legal but they are extremely dangerous. Common sparklers burn at temperatures of up to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit and remain extremely hot long after the sparks have ceased. Many children are injured each year by sparklers and children playing with novelty fireworks must be closely supervised by adults to prevent injury. Stay safe this holiday with safety tips and reminders from the Lombard Fire Department.
