firework safety

Firework Safety Reminders

Most fireworks are illegal in Illinois, and all fireworks (including sparklers) are dangerous. If you choose to purchase fireworks over state lines and detonate them in Illinois, you are not only putting yourself in danger and violating the law, you can also be held liable for damage or injuries that may occur.

We understand that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and cancellation fireworks displays throughout the state, that residents may experience increased occurrences of illegal firework use at residential homes in their neighborhoods. As Lombard Police and Fire continue to respond to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, you can show your support to first responders by NOT utilizing illegal fireworks this holiday.

road work ahead

Construction Projects and Updates

  • The Main Street Improvement Project continues to progress, and additional work will soon begin on Main Street, south of Wilson Ave., to Roosevelt Rd. Temporary lane closures will be required and traffic impacts are anticipated.

  • The Village will be investigating the sanitary sewer systems in specific areas beginning the week of July 20th. Non-toxic smoke will be used to identify leaks and residents may witness the smoke.

  • Parking lots at 115 W. St. Charles and at 23 W. Maple Street will be resurfaced beginning mid-July. For updates, follow the Village on Facebook and Twitter.

The Village understands that construction impacts traffic and we apologize for any inconvenience that motorists have experienced due to the construction activity. This temporary inconvenience allows the Village to improve roadways, update infrastructure, and invest into the Lombard community for years to come.

Visit the Village's interactive construction map to view projects.

cannabis application

Village Receives Application for Proposed Cannabis Dispensary

The Village of Lombard has received an application for a recreational cannabis facility seeking to open a location at 783 E. Butterfield Rd. An FAQ regarding the application is available on the Village's website.

This location is approved for a recreational cannabis dispensary as a conditional use and therefore requires a public hearing before the Lombard Plan Commission, with final approval by the Lombard Village Board. If you would like to submit your comment to be read at the meeting, you can email your comment to communitydevelopment@villageoflombard.org, or call and leave a voicemail at (630)620-5760.
