Registration Open for Citizen's Police Academy

The Lombard Police Department invites citizens living or working in Lombard to participate in its 30th Citizen’s Police Academy, beginning September 8, 2020. The 10-week long program takes place on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.,
and provides an understanding of modern police procedures. Applications are available at www.villageoflombard.org/cpa.

Hydrant Flushing Begins August 10

Lombard Public Works will begin its annual hydrant flushing program on Monday, August 10, 2020. Normal flushing hours will be from 3:30 - 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Occasional overnight hours may be necessary in order to prevent the disruption of traffic. The flushing program will take approximately six weeks to complete.

State's Attorney's Office Press Release

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Lombard Chief of Police Roy Newton announced in a press release that a Lombard woman is facing Attempt Terrorism and Possession of Incendiary Device charges for allegedly assisting a Lombard man who allegedly approached numerous city-owned squad cars armed with a Molotov cocktail, lighters, butane torches and a bat.

2020 Census Deadline Moved Up

The deadline to complete the 2020 Census has been moved up to Sept. 30th. Beginning next week, census takers will be visiting residences that have not yet completed the Census. Remind your friends and neighbors to complete the 2020 Census online at www.my2020census.gov or by calling 844-330-2020.

If you already completed yours, you can challenge your friends and family to make sure they’ve also completed the Census! Help fund schools, hospitals, roads, social services and more!

Help Keep Lombard Open: Prevent the Spread of Illness

In order to maintain progress made regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, residents are urged to follow safety guidelines and protocols in place, to help minimize the spread of illness. Should cases spike, restrictions that may reduce or suspend bar and restaurant services, organized recreational activities (gyms), retail shopping, or shut downs of salons and personal care may be implemented.

The website includes a map and information regarding ICU bed availability, illness admissions, and daily increases.

Unemployment Insurance Scam

The Lombard Police Department has received calls from residents related to unemployment insurance scams. The scam reports state that criminal actors impersonating the victims use the victims’ stolen identities to submit fraudulent unemployment insurance claims online.

Lombard Police are sharing tips from the FBI to help residents identify scams and what steps you should take if you think you have been victimized.

The DuPage County Health Department COVID-19 dashboard, shows the number of lab-confirmed COVID-19
cases in each municipality. As of August 6, there have been a total of 568 lab confirmed cases in Lombard.

The best way you can protect yourself is to socially distance yourself from people outside of your home, and limit your potential exposure. Wash your hands regularly, for 20 seconds, using soap, and do not touch your face with unwashed hands.
