Lombard Region Surpasses IDPH COVID-19 Positivity Rate Threshold

Data from October 16, shows that Region 8 has surpassed the Illinois Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 threshold of 8% positivity rate, for two consecutive days.

If COVID-19 positivity rates pass 8% or above for 3 consecutive days, heightened mitigation measures will be put into place for Region 8, including Lombard.

Currently, Region 5 (southern Illinois) and Region 1 (Rockford/NW Illinois) have met the resurgence criteria, resulting in heightened Tier 1 mitigation measures. At a press conference on October 19th, Governor Pritzker warned that, “Region 8 could join Region 5 in heightened mitigations as soon as tomorrow.” Region 8 currently reports 8.5% positivity rates for two consecutive days, with 10 days of positivity increases, and 5 days of hospital admission increases.
