COVID-19 Update: Nov. 13, 2020
The Village of Lombard is committed to maintaining core services for our community, including major operating services from Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments. In regards to public safety, the Village is sharing the following message with the Lombard community.
Daily COVID-19 cases and positivity rates continue to increase for Region 8, which includes DuPage and Kane Counties. This is and will continue to place a tremendous burden on our health care system, which may lead to a reduction in elective surgeries/procedures.
While we find ourselves wedged between “bad” and “worse,” we can find comfort in what we DO know, and that is that our actions matter. Collectively, we can help slow the spread of the virus and positively impact this situation by avoiding unnecessary person-to-person interactions, maintaining social distance, and wearing a mask when around people that do not reside within our household.
The mitigations in place by the State of Illinois are intended to benefit the health of our community. But as COVID-19 numbers continue to soar, increased mitigations, including the possibility of a new stay at home order from the State of Illinois, may be the next step.
In terms of local business, we continue to encourage residents to shop local. When you are making a purchase online, we ask that you pause and ask yourself if you can find that item in a local business. Please make the effort to support your local shops and restaurants whenever possible.
Ultimately, our success as a community and region is dependent on choices that each resident makes on a daily basis. We hope that you take these words seriously and identify potential areas where you can help reduce the spread of illness.
