This Thanksgiving, Buckle Up and Designate a Sober Driver

While families may be celebrating at home this year, Thanksgiving is traditionally one of the busiest travel times of the year and the Lombard Police Department is reminding motorists to buckle up and drive sober. Motorists will see an increase in safety patrols from Nov. 20 over the holiday weekend through the early morning hours of Nov. 30.

Whether you're driving across town, or down the street, wear your seat belt and make a plan for a sober ride home.

Holiday News and Reminders from the Lombard Fire Department

Keep the Wreath Red
The Fire Department will display holiday wreaths decorated with red and white lights, outside of both fire stations. If a fire caused by holiday decorations occurs in the Lombard community, one red bulb will be replaced with a white bulb. Our goal is to Keep the Wreaths Red! This Year’s program will begin Thanksgiving Day, November 26th and end on January 1st 2021.

Holiday Donation Alternatives
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Lombard Fire Department is encouraging residents to donate to local charities, in lieu of the cancelled Toy Drive and Toy Parade.

Holiday Light Recycling

Holiday Light Recycling Bin at Public Works: 11/26 - 1/18

Old or unwanted holiday lights may be dropped off in a bin at Lombard Public Works, 1051 S. Hammerschmidt Avenue, to be recycled by Elgin Recycling. The collection will begin on Thanksgiving (Nov. 26th) and will run through January 18th. Lights should be placed in the bin located in front of the building, which is accessible at any hour.

Remove plastic ornamentals and bags from the wiring to prevent entangling in the processing machinery.
