The Village of Lombard's Elf On the Shelf, Wilson, is back again this year and getting into mischief! Luckily, we are sharing some safety tips and reminders to help keep him (and you) safe this holiday season.

Winter Holiday Safety Reminders

To help keep you and your family safe this holiday season, the Lombard Fire Department is sharing safety tips from the National Fire Protection Association. Remember to use holiday light strands according to directions, and to water Christmas trees every day and to remove the tree when it's dry.

Holiday Light Recycling and Free Tree Pick-up  


Light Recycling Through Jan. 18 
Old or unwanted holiday lights may be dropped off in a bin at Lombard Public Works, 1051 S. Hammerschmidt Avenue, to be recycled by Elgin Recycling. The light collection will run through January 18th. Lights should be placed in the bin located in front of the building and is accessible at any hour. Remove plastic ornamentals and bags from the wiring to prevent entangling in the processing machinery. 

Free Holiday Tree Pick Up  
Residents may place holiday trees, free of tinsel and decorations, at their curbsides, January 4-15, for free disposal.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Holiday Campaign: Dec. 18 - Jan 4


The Lombard Police Department is partnering with law enforcement throughout the state for a high-visibility enforcement campaign to crack down on impaired driving during the winter holidays. From Dec. 18 - Jan. 4, motorists will see an increase in patrols and traffic stops, along with additional messaging on the dangers of driving impaired. Drive sober or get pulled over!
