Support Local Restaurants and Businesses

Region 8, including Lombard, recently moved to Tier 1 COVID-19 mitigations, which allows for limited indoor dining. While we continue to move forward as a community, we are excited about opportunities to visit and shop at Lombard restaurants and businesses, and to get back to some of our favorite pastimes. Residents are strongly encouraged to choose to dine and shop locally whenever possible. It is our hope that residents will recognize the importance of supporting local businesses at this important time.

Customers should expect to comply with social distance and should continue to wear masks in situations when a minimum of 6’ of social distance cannot be maintained.

Promoting Pedestrian Safety After Snowfall

To help ensure safety on sidewalk segments that are commonly utilized by pedestrians, the Village reminds businesses and property owners of sidewalk snow clearing requirements.

Commercial Property Sidewalks

After snowfall, Village Code requires commercial property owners to clear a path of at least 5 feet wide on sidewalks abutting their property. This includes sidewalk areas that lead to intersections at corners.

Downtown Lombard Sidewalks
Additionally, Code provisions require all property owners (residential and commercial) to clear snow from the sidewalk areas listed below, that are commonly used by pedestrians and commuters. These areas include:
  • St. Charles Road from Elizabeth Street to Martha Street;
  • Main Street from Grove Avenue to Washington Boulevard;
  • Park Avenue from Orchard Terrace to McGuire Drive; and
  • Westmore-Meyers Road from Division Street to North Broadway.
