Change Your Clocks Change Your Batteries


Daylight Savings Time begins on March 14th, 2021 and one easy step you can take to help save lives is to change your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide batteries when you change your clocks.

Changing smoke alarm batteries when you change your clocks, testing alarms, and reminding others to do the same are some of the simplest, most effective ways to reduce these tragic deaths and injuries.

Lombard Police will be participating in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, with extra enforcements on the road March 12 -18, to help keep celebrations from turning deadly. Drive sober or get pulled over, and buckle up!

Lombard Receives Financial Award for the 34th Time 


Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Village of Lombard for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2019. This is the Village’s 34th time receiving the award.

Controlled Burns Scheduled


The Village of Lombard’s Public Works Department, in conjunction with Bedrock Earthscapes, LLC of Wheaton, will be performing controlled (prescribed) burns this Spring, between March 15th and April 30th (depending on weather conditions), to help promote healthy native vegetation. Locations include: 

  • Terrace View Pond
  • Morris Pond
  • Echo Pond
  • Grace/Central Pond
  • The Surges Center Public Works Complex
  • Village Hall Complex 

Burns are heavily contingent on ideal weather conditions. Notifications of burns will be shared on the Village’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Residents may also sign up to receive notifications through Notify Me emails.

The Village will be sharing updates regarding the new Helen Plum Library project at 411 S. Main Street, pertaining to construction impacts and the permitting process. Sign up to receive e-mail updates at villageoflombard.org/libraryconstructionnews, 

While the Village will be sharing updates and information about construction, the Village of Lombard and the Helen Plum Library are separate entities and the best resource for information related to library’s development project is the Helen Plum Library.

ComEd Tree Trimming 


The Village of Lombard has received notification of scheduled tree trimming from ComEd. According to ComEd, trees and other vegetation cause about 13% of all electric service interruptions. Preventive pruning around aerial power lines is vital to providing reliable electric service. This preventative tree maintenance has been underway since February, with additional work scheduled in early summer. This work is taking place along roadways and in the easements behind homes. ComEd will notify residents if backyard access will be necessary.

COVID-19 Reminders and Safety


DuPage County Health Department Dashboard
The DuPage County Health Department COVID-19 dashboard, shows the number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in each municipality. As of March 11, there have been 3,804 lab confirmed cases in Lombard.

Help Slow the Spread and Keep Moving in the Right Direction

Residents are urged to follow safety protocols set forth by the CDC to help slow the spread of COVID-19, and to help Region 8 move toward decreased mitigations. Help support your local businesses by acting responsibly. 

Below are safety reminders that can help slow the spread of illness. 

  • Maintain a minimum of 6 feet of social distance.
  • Wear a face mask when in public. 
  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Clean and sanitize commonly used surfaces.
  • Quarantine for 14 days if returning from a COVID-19 hotspot. 
  • Avoid group gatherings.
  • Stay home when you are sick or experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing. 
  • Get tested: DuPage County Testing Site  
  • Avoid contact with others that are sick or experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
