Lombard Police Remind Residents to Watch for Ruse Burglaries

The Lombard Police Department is reminding residents to be cautious of ruse burglaries. As spring weather returns, nearby communities have been experiencing a number of ruse burglaries, in which one person distracts a home owner, while a different person sneakily enters the home to steal jewelry, cash, or other items of value. Crews may pose as construction workers, tree trimmers, and yard/lawn maintenance workers.

Distracted Driving Awareness Month

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and motorists are reminded that distracted driving can be deadly. If you use your cell phone while driving, you’re taking your eyes off the road.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 26,004 people died in U.S. crashes involving a distracted driver between 2012 and 2019. Drivers are urged to drop their phones and focus on the road. Remember: phone in one hand, ticket in the other!
