Update Regarding Cruise Nights and Summer Concerts
The Village of Lombard is committed to following the public health regulations and guidance set forth by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health. The Village continues to monitor the public health guidance and event restrictions applicable to large outdoor gatherings. At present, the Village has NOT CANCELLED the Cruise Night car show events or summer concerts for the 2021 season in their entirety.
The Cruise Night car shows and summer concerts are general admission events, without tickets, which occur in public spaces and public rights-of-way, such as streets and sidewalks, where the general public is free to travel and congregate. Such factors create particularly unique challenges regarding crowd management and social distancing.
State guidance and capacity restrictions on large outdoor public events are currently linked to COVID-19 and vaccination metrics. The ability of the State to move to Phase 5 where capacity of festivals and general admission outdoor events are not limited are linked to factors including statewide trends in hospital admissions, mortality rates, ICU bed availability and positivity rates and continues to be a very fluid situation.
In efforts to restore Illinois to Phase 5, we strongly encourage residents to follow the CDC’s recommendations to avoid the spread of illness, including the 3 Ws: wearing a mask, washing hands, and watching your distance and to seek out vaccination opportunities when they are available.
We are hopeful that at some point we will be able to schedule the Cruise Nights and Summer Concert Series for 2021 as we move through the next phases of the IDPH re-opening plan.
