Downtown Development Grants

The Village Board of Trustees voted to approve grant funding on April 15th to a new restaurant called Rebel Restaurant and Bar at 229 W. St. Charles Rd., in downtown Lombard. The grant will be used for new signage, upgrading the building façade, and improvements to the outdoor seating area.

At the May ECDC Meeting, requested funding was recommended for approval by the Village Board. The final approval of the grant will go to the Village Board on May 20th.

Brust Funeral Home requested grant funding for parking lot and storm sewer improvements.
Shannon’s Deli requested funding for the expansion of their restaurant into the space that formerly housed their butcher shop.

Downtown Lombard Event Updates

The Village has announced that Cruise Nights 2021 has not been cancelled for the season, however hosting large scale events is contingent upon the State’s approval and the entering to Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois Plan. Once Phase 5 is implemented, the Village will seek opportunities to host events.
The Lombard Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Arts and Crafts Fair date has been moved to October 2021.
The Lilac Parade Committee has announced that the Lilac Time Parade date has been moved to September 2021.

Outdoor Seating Permits Issued

In efforts to support businesses throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Village continues to work with local restaurants to help establish or expand outdoor seating opportunities. This includes 25 outdoor seating permits that have been issued in 2021.
