Lombard Fire Department Participates in Homebound Vaccination Program

The Lombard Fire Department has been assisting in COVID-19 vaccination distribution, by participating in the Homebound Vaccination Program. To support this program the DuPage County Health Department is maintaining and coordinating a list of homebound individuals who have registered for COVID-19 vaccine as well as providing the necessary vaccine and supplies to perform this critical work. Any individuals, age 16 years and older, who are homebound or have difficulty getting to a vaccination clinic are eligible for the program and may register at dupagehealth.org/covid19vaccineregistration, or call (630)682-7400 for assistance.

fight the bite

Fight the Bite this Summer

Lombard fights mosquitoes by dropping ecofriendly larvicide in hard-to-reach bodies of water via helicopter. These abatement efforts focus on the Culex Pipiens mosquito, which is known to carry West Nile Virus (WNV). It is not possible to prevent all mosquitos and residents are reminded to change bird bath water every other day, wear repellent after dusk or in forested areas, and to remove containers that may hold water where mosquitoes breed. For more, visit villageoflombard.org/mosquitoabatement.

Get To Know Your Community Development Department

The Village of Lombard’s Community Development Department is responsible for planning, zoning, building permits, code enforcement, private engineering and economic development. Watch a brief video to get to know your Community Development Department!

In 2019, the Village launched its online permitting platform, never realizing the importance it would play in helping the department meeting the needs of the development community during the COVID-19 pandemic. As residents were spending more time at home, many decided it was a good time to start or complete projects.

Whether it was adding or replacing a deck, a pool, or an house addition or remodeling project, between January 1 and May 1, 2021, there were 821 permits issued, which is a 57% increase over the same period in 2020. These permits also include a number of high profile redevelopments and new businesses slated to be underway this year. Most of these permits have been submitted online through the Village's Online Permitting Portal at villageoflombard.org/onlinepermits.
