Construction Projects

There's a lot of construction going on around town. Stay updated by following the Village on Social Media, or you can always check out the Construction Page. Upcoming significant projects include: 

  • Union Pacific Railroad will CLOSE the Grace St./St. Charles Rd. crossing both northbound & southbound Tuesday, August 17 to the 27 for construction. A detour will be in place utilizing the Main Street underpass. Learn More.

COVID Update

Currently, DuPage County is seeing increased COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations causing the county to remain at the highest level of Community Transmission, “High,” according to county-level data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In areas of the country experiencing “Substantial” or “High” levels of community transmission of COVID-19, CDC recommends that everyone, including fully vaccinated people, wear a mask in public indoor settings to prevent ongoing transmission of the disease.

Storm Update: August 12

Per the Village Board policy, debris from the recent storms is to be handled via the normal yard waste collection program.  Downed branches from private trees must be cut, bundled and stickered for collection by Waste Management on the normal collection days.  Bundles must be cut no longer than six feet, be no wider than eighteen inches, weigh less than fifty pounds and be tied with non-plastic twine or string.  Also, no single limb may be greater than six inches in diameter. Immunization Portal - Vax Verify

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is launching a new immunization portal, Vax Verify, that will allow Illinois residents 18 years and older to check their COVID-19 vaccination record. Vax Verify can be accessed at https://idphportal.illinois.gov. The verification system follows best practices to protect confidential health information. In order to download proof of vaccination, residents will go through a brief, one-time identity verification process to gain access to their immunization history. Immunization records are kept confidential and only the individual can access their vaccination history.

Village Seeking Nominees for Senior of the Year Awards

The Village of Lombard is seeking nominations for its 16th Annual Senior of the Year Awards, which recognizes outstanding seniors who volunteer or go above and beyond to positively benefit the Lombard community. 

Nominees must have an incorporated Lombard home mailing address and be 65 years of age or older. Nominations must include a brief statement, 50 words or less, on why the nominee should be considered, as well as a short biography of the nominee. Winners will be selected by the Village’s Community Relations Committee. Learn More.

Police and Fire Citizen Academies

The Lombard Police and Fire Departments are now accepting registration for the fall classes of their citizen academies. 

Citizen Police Academy - The program provides a free opportunity for citizens to meet members of the Lombard Police force, while gaining a hands-on experience of police work. Classes will be taught by Lombard officers and cover topics including traffic stops, firearm training, search and seizure laws, defensive tactics training, police dog protocols and training, as well as other hands-on instruction. The free classes will take place Tuesday nights, 7 to 9:30 p.m., over a ten-week period, beginning September 7, 2021. 

Citizen’s Fire Academy - The Lombard Fire Department invites Lombard citizens or people working in Lombard, aged 18 and older, to participate in its first Citizen’s Fire Academy, beginning September 8. The program will be limited to 10 participants and we will meet for 5 consecutive Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The academy provides an understanding of how the fire department responds to fire and medical emergencies and will provide participants with practical fire and life safety tips they can use at home.
